We Are Scientists don't take themselves too seriously. They write epic rock songs come off as catchy power-pop numbers on their record, but are fully and completely realized when played live. Keith Murray and Chris Cain, being the two main members of WAS, have been cranking out live performances that melt paint off walls since they met back in southern California during college. After moving to, and being currently based in Brooklyn, NY, WAS will be coming off an impressive stint in the UK, playing Glastonbury, T in the Park, and the Oxygen Festival. This band ROCKS. Their live performance, and their wit onstage, will certainly hook any first-timer. They're first stop on their short U.S. tour to support their new album Barbara will be in Boston on July 13th. We Are Scientists have gone through a few changes over the course of their three full-length albums. With the departure of their drummer just before the band was to depart on one of their first UK tours, the band was forced to substitute Gary Powell of The Dirty Pretty Things. Murray and Cain have stuck together as the driving force of WAS to attain commercial success while maintaining their NY hipster cred. They continue to write songs that are both compelling and catchy, mostly dealing with relations, and mistakes made after sex, drugs, and booze; any twenty-something can relate. Once onstage, however, the band is a dynamic rock force with loud, unabated guitar riffs and a rhythm section so tight they'll make American Apparel jealous. Be wooed by their wit, be rocked by their music, and make We Are Scientists your newest find in Rock 'N' Roll. GO TO THIS SHOW.

Gentlemen Hall is a DANCE band. They've been called "A true good mood band" by The Boston Globe, and were recently winners of an MTV VMA for Best Boston Breakout Artist. Billboard Magazine also noted, "It's clear there's no stopping these Gentlemen". Treat yourself to a night of dancing at Great Scott on July 3rd, rounded out with The Blue Pages, and DJ sets from Alden F and Jaguar. Heed the advice of the Boston Globe and "don't eat too much for dinner" before you go. You'll soon regret that third taco once you realize that it's nearly impossible to keep from moving when this band is on stage.

The band defines themselves with the strong characteristic melodies of vocalists Jacob Michael and Gavin McDevitt along with compelling lyrics fused with big guitars and synthesizers. In their own words, they're 'an unforgettable dance experience' and could light up any size room in the area. A sextet hailing from New England, Gentlemen Hall is in the middle of a collaboration with producer Earl Cohen, and continue to tour throughout New England. In 2009 they played The MTV VMA's after being named Boston's Best Breakout Artist. This band already has many of the best clubs in Boston on their resume, including House of Blues, Middle East (down), Harper's Ferry, Cafe 939, and others. The buzz is growing with this great electro-infused Boston-based band. Definitely check them out at Great Scott July 3rd. GO TO THIS SHOW.
